Nintendo News: Wii Fit to Keep Americans Moving at $89.99 MSRP

In anticipation of the U.S. launch of Wii Fit™, the new interactive fitness game for the popular Wii™ system, Nintendo of America Inc. has announced pricing details for this groundbreaking release. Available at Nintendo World store starting on May 19, Wii Fit and the innovative Wii Balance Board™ accessory will be bundled and sold together at a suggested retail price of $89.99.

Boasting a dynamic mix of more than 40 yoga, aerobics, strength training and balance activities, Wii Fit provides consumers with a fun, easy and affordable way to incorporate exercise into their daily routines. Using the included wireless Wii Balance Board accessory, every member of the household can step up and stay active, setting individual fitness goals and tracking their progress over time.

Consumers in the New York area who pre-order Wii Fit from the Nintendo World store in Rockefeller Plaza will receive a special bonus item. From April 18-20, the first 1,000 consumers who place a $5 deposit for Wii Fit will receive a limited edition Wii Fit T-shirt featuring the image and reproduced autograph of legendary Nintendo video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto.

Good News! The long awaited Wii Fit MO is here. The release date is 19th May. It will be the biggest thing in the gaming industry this year. Sold at 8800 Yen in Japan, it will be selling in the US at USD89.99. This means that it will translate to about S$126 (based on banks’ exchange rate, not real exchange rate). But, if local shops can charge you S$199 for a Japan Wii Fit, I really dunno how much they will charge for US Wii Fit. I expect at least S$180.

We hope, in the US at least, they do not mark up the price. Because this game is highly likely to be sold out everywhere. As such, this will be a extremely challenging MO. There is a chance the arrival date may be affected.

But we will still start this MO going, due to the numerous requests we got, with several assumptions and disclaimers.

Assumptions:

- Assuming there is no supply crunch on the first week, the shipment will take 1 week.

- Assuming the weight of the whole package is 6 pounds.

- Assuming bank USD-SGD credit card exchange rate is 1.4.

The MO price should be S$126 + 6 x $4.20 (air shipment - 6 pounds x $4.20/pound) = S$151.20.

Disclaimers:

- The ETA is 28 May. Due to possible supply crunch, the actual arrival date may be later than 31 May.

- I will charge you base on the exact shipment cost. If weight is more, you pay more; if less, you pay less.

- Dun ask me about the Wii Fit T-shirt. We are not in New York.

- If stocks do not arrive before 15 Jun, you can choose to get back your deposit.

- If the shops mentioned above sell lower than our MO, you can choose to get back your deposit.

It seems that we are doing a stupid thing for organising such a MO, with possible drawbacks and losses. Still, we want to try to help as many people as possible to secure your Wii Fit, with no risks on your side. Our objective, is to provide an alternate and cheaper source of Wii games in Singapore.
