And so today is the Finals of the Jurong Point Wii Sports Championship, and I was there too as a participant myself. Its a great day and all 8 participants were in high spirits today, probably because everyone was eyeing the $1000 bucks top prize.
No, I didnt win today, unfortunately.
Mario Party 8, again….
Thats right, the first game is Mario Party 8 again! Nobody expected that huh. Well, of course the mini games that were played were totally a different set, which includes a baseball game, paint ball game, the cake deco game, shoot the alien and can shaking game. Players need to play through all 5 mini games, and have to win best of 3.
OK, this is still not so bad, At least the baseball swinging and the shooting of aliens requires some skill, right? And guess whats the next game.
Mario and Sonic @ the Olympics!
The 100m Freestyle
And the 5 mini games are, 100M dash, 100M freestyle swimming, Long jump, Skeet (!!!) and Trampoline.
Oh my goodness, one look at it I knew the first 3 mini games are gonna kill me already, my arm and wrist are just too delicate for this horrible waggle experience. And boy I was so right, after the 100m Freestyle, my arms felt sore. Gave up.
And oh ya, the organisers are kind enough to remove Skeet from the list, as its simply too difficult for most people.
And so 4 players successfully emerged to the finals, and whats the game you say?
Super Smash Brothers Brawl!… again.
The final 2 battling it out, the one on the left is the Champion
Oh man, how I wish all the games could be SSBB all the way, and it would be best if the organisers could kind enuf to bring a save file with Lucario unlocked.
Personally I feel some of these game selections are… questionable, but I guess the aim is to have fun rather than have a more serious competition. Anyway everyone got some prizes and some vouchers at the end, so no complaints there.
Lastly, I must say that SSBB is really the crowd puller of the whole event, and this makes me really wanna do a pro-SSBB championship myself here.
Anyone interested? ![]()

The little small kid got the 4th place. But i think its rally not fair to merge the children and adult category. I asked the event chairperson how come all the games are related to Mario and he told me cos there are kids competing.

I believe their initial plan was to split. Maybe not enough people registering? Anyway, hate the way it was organised. Luck play too much an element.
