Continuing Pain27’s effort in organising a online SSBB tourney, I am taking over from here to follow up with all participants.

Game Rules:

• 1v1 only, 3 Stocks, no items
• Total of 1 game only, Knock-out matches at each round
• Stage = Final Destination only
• Maximum participants = 16 for prelims (8 for quarters, 4 for semis, and 2 for finals)
• Matchup will be balloted, and scheduled via email between the 2 participants (cc myself)
• Result will be published on the site, Video replay whenever possible
• During scheduled matchup, participants are encouraged to meet at this Chatroom on time

July is here, and as promised, a new banner has been put up on top of this page - in case you have NOT noticed!

In June, we had a clear choice for the game to be featured on the banner, but in July, I actually had to spend some time to look through the database to determine the winner. And it finally boils down to the battle between Soul Calibur 4 (PS3 & XBOX360) and Final Fantasy Chocobo Dungeon (Wii), and its obvious who had just won.

Frankly, its really fun, and if anyone is interested to help design the banner, please send me a note and I will gladly mail you the Paint.Net file I used to generate the above image.

The Blizzard homepage is now updated with a splash icy-blue-image of… something, which is everybody’s guess right now.

Another WOW expansion? Bah, that would be terribly uncool.

Starcraft 2 beta? or even better a confirm release date? Very likely there too, but still I think it’s something else…

Perhaps the most logical guess would be - Diablo 3 announcement.

This coming weekend, 28-29 June, Blizzard WorldWide Invitational, all Blizzard fans would probably wet our pants all over when the secret will be revealed, and not forgetting Starcraft 2 latest build.

Oh Blizzard, how I adore you for being so secretive.

The details are out, and Nintendo (through Maxsoft, of course) will be at the Singapore Toy & Comic Convention this year, held at Suntec City this coming weekend!

You’ll be able to try out Wii Fit, Mario Kart, Guitar Hero 3, Wii Sports, and Link Crossbow Training (!?) at the event! On the DS front, Guitar Hero: On tour, and Trauma Center Under the Knife 2. Wow!

In case you have not noticed, we have included a small polling window on the right side of every pages here since about 1 week ago. The current question would be, what would you really like to see more on GameFrontz (GFz)?

We know, there are tonz of other gaming sites out there, including a few more which has just sprung up to life recently in Singapore, much like us. So, the current question is very important to us, as it will determine the approach and direction that we will be taking from here onwards.

So far, it looks like people generally like us to be more MO/SALE focus, and thats not necessary a bad thing. However, we just like to collect more data if possible, as more effort will be channeled towards the area of interest.

So, do tell us what you think… Like the daily news/videos that we filtered? Or the events that we organize/report? Or simply, you are just waiting for us to do more MO/SALE stuffs (PS3 or XBOX360?) and keep the rest minimal? Or you think a forum will be useful?

Anyone still using piggy bank to save money? I used to when I was a kid and I kinda enjoyed it very much. Now, Takara Tomy has this brilliant idea of a RPG piggy bank, whereby you level up according to the amount you save!

This is real cool. I mean, I had never imagined piggy banks to evolve to this stage.

Although the reviews from major publishers are generally positive, but I have a feeling the sales data wont keep up with the glory.

Is that Microsoft’s answer to Nintendo’s Mii? and PS3’s Home?

Well, since they are already late in this area, I wish them luck in playing catch-up, however, it might just be beter for them to just stick to their usual FPS lineups.

For those interest in NPD reports and Nintendo’s/Sony’s/Microsoft’s responses to it, here is it. I follow NPD data because they cover US sales, and US is the biggest gaming market out there. NPD is also seen as reliable, as the Big 3 make references to it every month.

For May’s report, Microsoft emphasized on their LTD (Lifetime to data) revenue, Sony talked about PlayStation brand’s revenue and Nintendo almost just repeated the NPD report itself.

You will notice that Microsoft and Sony never talked about profits at all, only revenue. They just do their PR spin again and again, attacking one another, while carefully avoid mentioning Nintendo. On the other hand, Nintendo boringly responded: Wii and DS wins again. And Wii Play?!? Why do they even bother mentioning it? Boring…

Yes, I have to remind you that I am still playing SSBB, but unfortunately not with human opponents. Random matches is broken again.

I do realised there are many more players who suffers the same fate as me, and up till now we still did not have any good solution to overcome this broken online mode.

Forums, no immediate response….

Private Message (PM), same….

Shoutbox, no idea who the hell is online at that time….

Tried all of the above, and apprently the best way seems to be using MSN, which is the most popular instant messenger in SIngapore I believe. But still, not everyone uses MSN (is it?) and most importantly, not everyone wants to expose their MSN account.

Argh… the pain… the ordeal… I hate Nintendo and their naive management.

But now.. I have a new idea.

Unless you are a geek like me, you probably do not know that Apple officially announced the launch of 3G IPhone, coming to every parts of the world (22 initially), and Singapore will be getting it via Singtel ONLY.

And whats the bigger deal? The new IPhone costs USD199 only! Say byebye to HTC, Dopod, O2, Windows Mobile, Starhub, M1, and all other overpriced phone makers.

And whats IPhone to do with the gaming industry in general, actually nothing at the moment, but its just that I cant seem to find any worthy news online today other than all the Apple worshipping.

Okayokay, there’s some connection, look at this Iphone running Super Monkey Ball, DS killer! LOL.

June is almost halfway, and this site is just barely 2 months old. Up till now we have accumulated 369 posts astoundingly, which gives like about 6 posts per day over the last 60 days.

That is an in-game graphic from the new animal-theme game for PS3 - Afrika.

Amazing isnt it? Things are getting so real nowadays on games, its almost comparable to Hollywood blockbusters.

Oh ya, do you remember there’s a similar themed Wii game called Safari? I cant help to confess that it is still much better to leave this kind of realistic games to the PS3, Wii, just do what you are good at and you will be fine.

Seeing that Nintendo’s incompetence in creating a working online space for all Wii gamers, some clever gamers have come up with this Wii Friend Number, a Facebook application that allows you to record all your horrible-looking FriendCodes, and at the same time you will be able to checkout all your connected friends’ FCs.

Neat, isnt it? I had just added it onto my Facebook as seen from above, but sadly none of my friends have this yet.

Rune Factory on the DS is making an appearance on the big brother Wii, and the Japanese has the privilege of getting it first in their country (as usual) very soon.
